It was an easy way to get the Bible highlights covered while I worked around the house. Killed 2 birds with one stone, so to speak.

If They Weren't a Cult Before.....
by AllTimeJeff ini just wanted to officially change something on my viewpoint.
i have thought about this for a few days.
i used to think that while they were in some ways controlling, that jw's did not meet the criteria of a cult totally.

I really believe the true cultish behavior will become much worse with the dub only watchtowers.

Is Bush Missing the Real Danger ?- Homeland Security
by flipper inhello folks.
since 9/11 it seems a lot of focus has been on the iraq war and lately there have been quotes of president bush saying that terrorism in iraq is what needs to be concentrated on.
well, last night on the late night show " coast to coast ", col. john alexander a weapons and military expert was talking about our governments ignoring dangerous happenings in our own back yard.

Homeland security is a joke. We will get hit again, just a matter of when. Why the government refuses to enforce their own immigration laws is beyond me. Cheap labor is just not worth it, the same people could enter legally.
The Republican party runs on promoting fear, so if we don't have another attack, it's kudos to the strong Republican party and president. If we do get hit, it's vote Republican because the Democrats are weak on national secutity. There's no way to win.
I don't think Bush would have been voted in for a 2nd term without the events of 9/11 happening. Karl Rove made the new climate of fear into a winning strategy for Bush. It never really made any sense to me. It seemed to me that Bush was asleep (or on vacation) on the job.

You won't believe this: a KH turned into a church!!!
by observador inabout two years ago i posted here some pictures of a kingdom hall for sale.
that was quite something to me; had never seen something like it; never thought i would.
always thought that a progressive, ever increasing true religion would be always building and expanding, not selling.. but what wasn't my surprise when i passed by the other day and the damn hall had been sold; worse, the old, glorious hall had become a, gasp... a church!!.

There is a kingdom hall in Michigan that used to be a church. You can tell by the type of design and it just looks like a church with the cross and steeple removed. Never really tried to change it much.
Where I live, I know of a kingdom hall that was sold about 20 years ago and became a Christian church. i guess it works both ways.

Sometimes, I think we are a little too quick to overload a new poster with too many viewpoints or a too rapid destruction of the watchtower in our posts. Maybe they aren't ready yet. Need to be welcoming and stay close to the subject of their post.
Just a lot of welcomes are nice when you first get up the nerve to actually post.

Spycatchers
by hurricane inmy daughter and son in law have just been dfd for questioning re issues we all know about, molestation, 607/587, ngo, etc.
i am not going to add to the damage by shunning so my own days may be numbered ?
maybe though i will be left alone as i dont think rocking the boat is what my own elders are about and our family connections are numerous.

Never had a problem in stopping by my Dfd son's home, but I have grandchildren there too. I do know someone who was Dfd for eating a meal at a restaurant with a Dfd friend. They were turned in by a fellow dub (so kind). I would think if it's a close family member, there is always some excuse to be there. Just use your imagination.
And I would drive and park in front of their house.

The witnessses are a reactionary group. They only make a move in reaction to some perceived threat. So, they must be feeling threatened by web sites and private discussion groups. They like to say that those who break away from jws always fizzle out when they start something else. Obviously, that is not the case.
Why would anyone be part of a religion that so looked down on education and independent thinking skills?
Hey, the story about the computer links in jws was a good one, liked it.

It won't be too much longer until we are rid of bush. I think he has less than 500 days left in office. I know, that's long enough for him to cause more trouble. Hopefully, as the days draw down, he won't tackle ant major new projects like attacking another country.
Remember this thread when they choose a new president.
